Tricolored Heron photographed at Delray Beach, FL
This heron stood at the top of the mangroves for a long while, neck tucked, just watching the water. Tricolored herons are easy to pick out by the white belly under all that grey. They're restless hunters, often running through the shallows instead of waiting things out.
